Welcome to Villa Mipa, our holiday home in Votsalakia on the island of Samos. It sleeps four and sits just 230 metres from the sea, surrounded by olive trees.
Downstairs there is a comfortable living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a separate toilet. The traditional stone staircase leads upstairs to two bedrooms and a modern bathroom. Both bedrooms have their own balcony.
Outside, the house has a 350 m² garden and two terraces. One is covered, so there is always somewhere to sit out of the midday sun. There is also a quiet spot with loungers beneath one of the old olive trees.
Most days here are simple: breakfast outside, a walk to the sea, a swim, and dinner at one of the tavernas nearby. That is exactly what we love about being here.

The main bedroom has a double bed and opens onto a balcony that looks out over the olive grove towards the Aegean.

The garden is planted with lavender and ornamental grasses, with gravel paths running between them. Two loungers sit in the shade of an olive tree that has been here much longer than the house.
It is one of our favourite places to spend a quiet afternoon.
The covered terrace has space for six and stays shaded during the hottest part of the day. We use it for breakfast, lunch and plenty of long dinners outside.
Upstairs, the second terrace sits beneath the pergola and looks out towards Mount Kerkis. It is especially nice later in the day when the sun starts to drop.
The sea is about a three-minute walk from the house. The long beach is ideal for a morning swim, an afternoon in the sun or simply finding a quiet spot by the water.
There are plenty of tavernas, cafés and beach bars within walking distance, whether you want fresh fish, a quick lunch or a frappé by the sea.
There are plenty of walks around Votsalakia, from easy coastal routes to longer hikes towards Mount Kerkis.
Votsalakia is relaxed and low-key, with small tavernas, local businesses and a friendly village atmosphere.
